Membership in the ACFPA is open to Resource Families (relatives or Foster Parents) who are actively caring for foster and/or adopted children in their homes. Since the ACFPA is a Chapter under the California Foster Parent Association (CSFPA), by becoming a member of ACFPA, you will also become a member of CSFPA and can take advantage of the offerings provided by both organizations.

The ACFPA provides many benefits including the following:

~ Members only events, such as the Annual Back to School Picnic
~ Members only Academic and Enrichment Scholarships offered multiple times per year
~ Members only retail donations from reputable organizations
~ Monthly meetings allowing caregivers to:

  • Network with other Resource Families, share experiences, provide and receive guidance and support
  • Learn about new regulations impacting Resource Families and children in care
  • Discuss concerns and get your questions answered by representatives from the Alameda County Department of Children and Family Services
  • Take advantage of no-cost, live continuing education programs required for ongoing Resource Family Approval (RFA) licensure
  • Learn about upcoming events and helpful resources available to Resource Families and children
  • Learn about special training programs and support related to caring for newborns and children with special needs through the County’s Community Action to Reach out to Infants (CARI) Program

~ Ongoing communication related to low or no cost events, educational programs and resources to support caregivers and children in care

Membership dues are tax deductible.  If you are a newly licensed caregiver receiving services through Alameda County, the County will cover your membership costs for the first year, therefore no payment is required with your application.
