The ACFPA Drive-though Summer Giveaway

Liz and Felicia at the Registration Table

On July 31st 2021, the ACFPA hosted our member-only, COVID-safe, Drive-through Summer Giveaway. This event would not have been possible without the generosity of our amazing partners at the First Presbyterian Church of Hayward who once again allowed us the use of their parking lot to stage this event.

With the help of our incredible community of partners and supporters, we were able to distribute pre-packed bags of supplies and goodies to 45 families and over 100 children during the Drive-through Summer Giveaway.

Some of the items that were distributed to families were “My Stuff” bags from the My Stuff Bags Foundation non-profit organization, containing age-appropriate books and other items, Chabot College Family Bags, His Kingdom Movie Night bags, Alameda County Social Service Appreciation bags, an assortment of Mary Kay and Sephora cosmetics, arts and crafts and school supplies and new pairs of Old Navy shoes.

Additionally, families received goody bags that were donated to the ACFPA by two industrious High School students from Hayward, Sonal and Vanishnavi, who collected $600 and used it to fill 75 bags with crafts, toys, masks, hand sanitizers, lip balm and school supplies.

To top it all off, and in honor of a beautiful summer day, families received delicious ice cream treats for their ride home.

Huge thanks go out to Joyce Ryder, Rendy Orlando and Scarlet Payne who spent countless hours preparing for this event and organizing each family’s bag of goodies, and to the ACFPA Board members and our community volunteers who helped everything run safely and smoothly during the event.

Finally, thanks to our member families who attended the event, making it a fun summer outing for the kids.

We hope everyone had a great summer and wish all of the families and kids a safe return to school.

Support Girl Scout with her Gold Award Project and Help Fill the Livermore Closet

Dear ACFPA Families

Please let me introduce myself.  My name is Taty Munoz and I am 15 years old.  I live in Livermore Ca. with my Dad, Mom and two sisters. I am the oldest and am in 9th grade.  I am also an avid softball player, girl scout and started my own baking business.  I aspire to one day be a High Profile Criminal Detective and I am working hard to make my dreams a reality.  I just wanted to give you a little background but there is more to me then these simple facts.  I have been a Girl Scout for 11 years.  I have completed my Bronze Award, My Silver Award and now am working on my Gold Award.  This award is the highest achievable award within the Girl Scout Organization. It requires great planning, organizing, fundraising and commitment. It can take up to a year or more to obtain. This is probably the largest project I have ever embarked on thus far.

The reason I am writing this letter is to share with you about my Gold Award. My goal is to raise 5000-10,000$ to help fill up the Foster care resource closet that is being created in the Tri-Valley. With the great support of Light for his Kingdom Ministries and Alameda County Foster Parent  Association, I believe this is very attainable. The foster care system is very close to my heart because I was once a foster kid. I was blessed to get a forever home when I was 10 months old. My 12 year old sister and 6 year old sister are also adopted.  This closet will make a huge impact in the lives of many foster kids and foster parents. Any donations will help! To donate go to Paypal and use my personal login:TatyGoldAward or Venmo and use my login: Taty_GoldAward. Thank you in advance for supporting me! I couldn’t do this without you and the generous contribution of Light For His Kingdom that is providing the space and muscle for the man power needed.

I believe that family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and succeed and the ones who love you no matter what!

 Much love and sincere appreciation,

Taty Munoz

CARI Cohort Series begin in February 2021

Community Action to Reach out to Infants (CARI) is a State-funded project with the Department of Alcohol and Drugs that serves substance-exposed and medically fragile infants and toddlers. CARI provides foster parents and relatives who care for these children with specialized training, support groups and respite care.

The CARI Spring 2021 (CARI) Cohort Series begins on February 3, 2021. CARI providers who complete this training will receive 48 hours of respite care, meet other resource parents of infants in Alameda County and learn about drug exposure, what to look for, and how to nurture healthy development.

Please check the flier for registration and training details.
